Our Philosophy
At Oak Valley Hospital, we believe in the inherent worth and
dignity of each human being as an individual and as a member of a
family unit. We define family as a group of people whom the
patient declares are close to her. We believe childbirth is one of
life's most important events, not an illness but rather a time of
emotional, social, and physical change. All persons involved
should be supportive of the parents' expectations, within the realm
of safety, to assure that the birth experience is a positive
one.
That is why we have a caring obstetrics staff who is not only
experienced, but also extremely comforting and compassionate.
At Oak Valley Hospital your health, safety and comfort are equally
important. Our obstetrics staff have committed themselves to
making your labor, the birth of your child, and your recovery a
positive experience.
We also believe that childbirth should be a family
experience. Therefore, new mothers and their newborns are not
the only ones cared for by our staff; friends and family members
are always welcome. We feel that the presence of siblings
during the crucial days following this important event benefits all
family members and emphasizes our complete support of the family
unit. We choose to promote the family-centered concept of
maternity care based on our belief that the birth experience has a
significant impact on the growth and development of future
generations.
Labor-Delivery-Recovery-Post-Partum (LDRP) Suites
Oak Valley
Hospital offers a variety of birthing environments to meet
individual labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum needs.
The Family Centered Maternity Care Unit is contained in a single
wing of the hospital. It consists of six LDRP rooms, one
postpartum room with two beds, and a traditional delivery
room. We have combined comfort and privacy by offering new
mothers a home-like atmosphere, complete with private suites and
operating rooms for surgical births.
Care Plan
The Oak Valley Hospital obstetrics staff
encourages family-support coaching and early breastfeeding for new
mothers. Labor analgesia and labor epidural/spinal services
are available. We also provide lactation counseling for
mothers wishing to breastfeed. We recognize breastfeeding as the
most complete nutritional and bonding experience for a mother and
her newborn, but are also supportive of any decisions a mother
chooses for herself and her baby.
