Oak Valley Care Center
Oak Valley Care Center (OVCC) is a skilled
nursing facility that has two sites on the Oak Valley Hospital
campus and is licensed for 115 beds. The long-term resident care
facility is located adjacent to the hospital and has 104 beds. The
11-bed short term rehabilitation and medical unit is
located on the 300 wing of the hospital. Both sites offer
occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, social
services and other services that may be needed for resident
care.
At OVCC, we pride ourselves in providing a
caring, compassionate, family-like environment for the residents.
Active members of the medical staff supervise medical care at the
facility. In addition, there is a team of dedicated employees who
provide residents assistance and help to maintain an optimal
quality of life.
The Eden Alternative Concept
OVCC is the only Eden Alternative certified
facility in Stanislaus County. The mission of the Eden
Alternative initiative is to improve the well-being of Elders and
those who care for them by transforming the communities in which
they live and work. The Care Center strives to eliminate
loneliness, helplessness, and boredom for the residents. The
Eden Alternative is a concept of culture change. "Instead of
a strictly clinical setting, we strive for a more home-like
setting," said Patti Taylor, Director of Activities for the Care
Center. Amongst the residents of the care Center lives Sam
the dog and a few more feline friends. The presence of
animal companions is just another way the Care Center creates a
home-like atmosphere.
The Quality First Initiative
In an effort to increase our high quality
patient care and services we offer our residents, the OVCC
voluntarily participates in the American Health Care Association's
"Quality First" initiative. The goal of
this profession-wide initiative sponsored by the California
Association of Health Care Facilities is to have 100 percent of
their members join in the Quality First
commitment.
